(Part of 2009 Summer Holiday)
There is not much that we can say about Durban. Well, it is a coastal city on the Indian Ocean with a big port which also happens to be one, if not the most popular holiday destination for people from Johannesburg. So the books say. We went there for the first time on our Summer 2009 holiday for a brief stay of two nights. To be honest, we were so tired from the previous traveling due to a slight underestimation of the total distance that we would have to drive, that we spent a big portion of our time there doing nothing and rather staying at the nice B&B.
On the way in, trusting our not-so-trust-worthy GPS we went through the center of the city, given you the feeling of being in Africa proper, but not necessarily a good part of Africa. The only other part we saw was the marine entertainment complex Ushaka, which made the boy happy and didn't require much of energy, initiative or motivation from our side, which was good, because we were short of all these.
Ushaka is a mixture of an aquarium and a wet-and-wild sort of water pool entertainment complex with slides, pools and long cues, which is very popular with everybody as it seems. The photos are from there. When we will go back to Durban, which I assume we will at some point, I will take some more photos. We heard that the northern suburbs are quite nice.
